OFFICIAL INVITATION

Friday, November 11 ~ 11:11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WabiSabiWeddingDay.blogspot.com

Kapowsin Event Center

Potluck begins at 11:11 a.m.  Ceremony at 1:11 p.m.
Afterwards we will continue the potluck as well as give a chance for anyone that wants to bring an instrument to share music. Game playing is planned, so feel free to bring those as well. We are certainly open to other ideas and suggestions.

Please bring a dish or two of something yummy to eat!  We love to try different things, so if you have been wanting to try something new, or to share some international cuisine, this would be a great time.

As we are vegetarians, we are requesting no meat for this day.  Seafood, dairy, honey, eggs, etc. are all fine.  We plan to take care of beverages (hopefully with the help of Ubiquitous Journey!), but if you have something interesting to share, just ask.  We do plan on serving some alcohol, and do expect everyone to be responsible with it.  We also hope to keep dessert items to a minimum, but a couple would be ok, so just let us know ahead of time!

Very relaxed - wear whatever feels comfortable.  Feel free to dress up or even wear your Halloween costmes! (:

We are not accepting any physical gifts.  We are moving soon and hoping to go minimalist.  In lieu of a gift, however, you may donate to our "Wedding Fund."  Most of it will probably go towards the rental of the building.

There is a Paypal donation button on our website, or you can, of course, donate in person.  We would also be happy to accept help with acquiring and setting up decorations, photography, and any other cool wedding stuff you can think of!

This is not your traditional wedding!  We would prefer having no ring, no wedding cake, no gifts, no "aisle."  It is our special day, but we don't want to be the focus.  We merely would like to be the hosts of a nice get-together of our friends and family. :D

Finally Just About Finalized A Location

We have an appointment on Wednesday (our second meeting there) to reserve....

dun, dun, dun....

Kapowsin Grange!

We were looking forward to using the Kapowsin Grange when it looked like this:

But they have extensively remodeled since the pictures I found on the internet were taken - which I think was just about a year ago!

And now it is no longer "Kapowsin Grange," it's "Kapowsin Event Center."

Here are some newer pictures of the outside:

It's really nice. Did you see the nice grill and outdoor area just above? They completely re-did the inside too. With marble countertops and custom woodworking! It's really nice.

We're only reserving half of it though... not expecting too big of a crowd. Still, I believe Northwest Roads will be playing. So we will have to make sure they have some room, along with the food and people who are there!

Since 11/11 is a national holiday, the courthouse will be closed, so we can't do the "official business" there. So we broke down and got someone to officiate the ceremony: Karen Kroha, the owner of 'tiques & t'ings inside of Ubiquitous Journey (one of the most awesome stores within a 50-mile radius).

I think we've got the times down too. We were thinking of signing the papers at the courthouse at 11:11, but since that's not an option, we've decided for our potluck to start at 11:11, "ceremony" (or lack of one! :P) at 1:11. And then more food maybe. :)

Guess we should probably apply to apply for the wedding license! (Or whatever silly thing that is you're supposed to do.)

Progress still needs to be made on my "dress," but it shouldn't be too hard.

Treavor already has what he will wear picked out.

It occurred to me today that I have no idea what the kids should wear. Just normal clothes? Hmm, we'll have to talk about that one.

And another BIG THANK YOU! We received a couple more donations! :)

It's almost time to figure out decorations! And get hair cut! :)

The Giveaway Has Ended, But You Still Have A Chance At A Thank-You Gift!

Although progress has slowly been happening, I've been slacking on updating this lovely Wabi-Sabi Wedding Day blog. I admit, I've been a bit bummed about the lack of donations. It's true that I wasn't expecting much, but I was confident that I could get the word out to the world and I'd at least get considerably more views and comments, and just maybe a couple small, random donations.

I had a free $100 of ads to run with Google AdSense. I made a lovely ad, but it was denied because they don't allow all-caps, and thus the word "LOVE" wasn't allowed. Then I found out that, since one of the main purposes of this blog is to get donations, I may not be allowed to run ads for it anyway. (Although now that I think about that again, I'm not sure if it makes sense... hmm)

On top of that, I've been really busy. I haven't been tracking my progress though, so I couldn't tell you what I've been doing that's kept me so busy! Just general Mom stuff, I guess. :)

We are, however, VERY thankful for the $135 worth of donations we've received, even if it's only from 3 people!

The giveaway is officially over, but I did want to make a post about what our lovely friends and family won. :)

I admit that they don't even know they've won anything yet, and I've just been holding onto their prizes for a couple of weeks now! This post will no doubt start a snowball effect and they will receive their awesome prizes soon.

I'm actually jealous... I kinda want to buy this stuff for myself but it's hard to justify the prices! It's been a little hard to not just break into everyone's prizes and eat 'em all up. (They won't know!!) :)

I haven't taken pictures of the exact prizes, but I have to say they DO include goji berries and truffles.

I picked all of these personally and chose things that I thought the individuals would like best, so hopefully they do! :D

Just in case you're jealous too, you can donate some money and, even though the giveaway is officially over, I might be able to scrounge up a little something for you, maybe. Giving thank-you gifts is fun! :D

Alright, Really Need to Find a Location

Turns out the location I was so happily spotlighting in my last post is booked for 11/11/11. Darn. Wish I had reserved it sooner! Ah well, that's what happens when you don't stress about your wedding day! :)  Something will work out!

Now I'm left with a dilemma though: Indoor or Outdoor? Can you think of any more pros and cons?
Pros: outside is awesome
we'd like a nature-y setting
Cons: weather: most likely drizzling, muddy, and chilly

For some reason I can't think of any more pros and cons than that but I know there are tons!

So, any ideas on new locations would be much appreciated. I will share a few that have been buzzing around in my head for a few days. :)

1) Meridian Habitat Park

We visited this "park" once but we don't really get good vibes from it. We've never been in the building though, so who knows. It's not very naturey, although it does have grass and a few trees. We'd prefer something more forest-y honestly, but we're willing to at least give it a chance. Thank you to C2 Photography for sharing these pictures of a wedding held there! I doubt our wedding day will be even half as fancy as theirs. :)

pond out front

some trees!

red carpet inside and icky decorating blech!
they seemed to overcome it pretty well though

2) Kapowsin Grange

Selena (I believe it was) at our Self Reliant Community meeting on Wednesday mentioned to me that Kapowsin Grange is available for events. We've never been there, and should probably at least drive by it. I found some photos online (thanks to Northwest Real Estate Photography). It looks like it matches, at least a little bit, but we'd certainly need to see it in person. Here are some pictures.

I think the building looks cute :) (in this photo anyway!)

ewww this room is icky though. reminds me of zombie video games

this room is much nicer thanks to the wood floor, but I'm not liking the fluorescent  lights

bathrooms and tables!

nice big kitchen in the zombie room, great for potlucks!

I think the back of the building is pretty too. :) Seems like a pretty nice representation of how it might look in November!

3) Wildwood Park

Last but not least! Lisa and Ray suggested this place - that's where they got married! Ray mentioned that an added perk of getting married at a park is that on your anniversary, you can have a nice little picnic there! Wildwood Park is certainly a beautiful place, but it doesn't really have any indoor spots, just a bunch of small-to-medium shelters. They aren't terribly well-kept, either. Many have really awesome ovens and fireplaces, but they have all been cemented in and covered up except for the Girl Scout lodge - but it is too tiny for our guests and not safe for kids if we made a fire! There's another spot with clearing and a few shelters, but I'd be concerned about keeping everyone warm and dry and not too muddy. I took a bunch of pictures the other day, so I saved the most pictures for last. :)

tiny shelter

great view out the window. fun to climb though the window too.

tiny shelter

pretty in general, but not manicured. not that i like really manicured....

the only shelter with a fire pit

said fire pit, right in the middle

stream to the right, play equipment to the left in the distance

pretty, but you can see not quite so meticulously cared for like Frontier

thought that is a nice place for a photo op

neat table

nice little clearing

pretty plants

roof of one of the shelters

the shelter we would probably end up using (there are a couple others adjacent, too)

trees!!! :D

ferns! :D

lots of ferns! :D

my toes in the stream

cute staircase

another one of the shelters we would probably use

a new tree growing out of a fallen tree :D

the area where the shelters we'd use are

a shelter whose fireplace is blocked off on the inside. :(  That would have been cozy.

kind of creepy actually... we wouldn't use this one...

windows

there is indeed an 11 at this park... apparently i accidentally saved it three times and hey look! its our wedding date!
11/11/11

Donations!

We have received a handful! Thank you very much! We are now at $135 so technically I suppose my giveaway should be over, BUT one person donated $100 so I think I'll keep it going. Still haven't posted what sorts of things we will be giving away to our donators! Post coming soon, really! :)  I need to make an ad before my free $75 worth of ads expire, too! The lovely people who have donated will receive gifts, but I still want to give more!!!! Not sure how much more though. We'll play it by ear/shoot from the hip/see what happens. We'll go to at least $150 before the giveaway is over. :)
